Our Vision

New Masjid Project Rendering

A Center for Our Community

Masjid Al-Hakeem was established in 2016 to serve the growing Muslim community in Bowmanville. Starting with a small rented space, we began offering regular prayers and basic Islamic education. Since then, we have been:

  • Operating from a rented facility
  • Hosting 5 daily prayers, Taraweeh during Ramadan, and Eid Salah
  • Providing evening Maktab classes with dozens of children attending
  • Being active in Dawah efforts — nearly 30 people have taken Shahadah here
  • Organizing regular community events such as Eid parties, BBQs, potlucks, and kids' activities

However, We are now at a critical juncture.
Not only have we outgrown our current space, but our lease is ending this year and will not be renewed.

But Alhamdulillah, our prayers were answered when a new building became available within Bowmanville.

With the purchase agreement now secured, we need to complete the payment by August 28, 2025. Our new masjid will serve not only as a place of worship but also as a comprehensive Islamic center with expanded facilities for education, community gatherings, and social services.

The new building will feature:

  • Larger prayer halls for men and women
  • Multiple classrooms for Islamic education
  • Community hall for events
  • Library and resource center
  • Enhanced facilities for wudu and ghusl
  • Expanded parking
  • A home for our community for generations to come

Our Journey

2016: Humble Beginnings

Masjid Al-Hakeem was established in 2016 to serve the growing Muslim community in Bowmanville. Starting with a small rented space, we began offering regular prayers and basic Islamic education.

2017-2018: Community Growth

As our community grew, we expanded our services to include regular halaqas, Quran classes, and community events. The need for a larger, permanent space became increasingly apparent.

2019-2024: Establishing Programs

We established our Maktab program, youth activities, and community support services. Despite challenges during the pandemic, our community remained connected and continued to grow.

2024: Failure to Secure a new Home for Masjid Al-Hakeem

With the size and needs of the Bowmanville community drastically exceeding the capacity of the currental rental space, we began planning for a new permanent home for Masjid Al-Hakeem. A property was identified by community at the time, however, despite our hardest effort, the opportunity had slipped by our hands.

Though we were able to secure a lease extension till 2025, it was known that this was a temporary solution. And if didn't secure a permanent place soon, we would risk losing our cherished masjid, which was (and is) at the heart of our community.

This was never about just a building - it's about our spiritual home, our programs, our children's future.

2025: Picking up the pieces and setting our sights on a new home

Alhamdulillah, with a lot of effort from the Bowmanville community, we have successfully purchased a property is large enough to meet our growing needs! We are now focused on raising funds to complete the payment by the closing date. Our goal is to raise $1,300,000 to cover the cost of purchase and necessary renovations.

August 28, 2025: Closing Date & Initial Renovations

Once we've completed the payment by the closing date, we will officially take possession and begin the process of converting it into a proper masjid with prayer spaces, wudhu areas, and basic facilities.

Fall 2025: Grand Opening

In sha Allah, we anticipate opening the doors of our new masjid to the community, marking a new chapter in our journey of serving Muslims in Bowmanville and surrounding areas.
